Program Structure
Participants complete the Executive MBA - Healthcare Leadership in a single year. The average time commitment is about 20 hours per week for readings and assignments, and most assignments relate directly to work participants perform on the job.
We convey a full degree in a shortened duration by catering to adult learning principles and projects. Prework covers the basic concepts, and we minimize lectures in favor of simulations, case studies and discussion exercises.
The program combines online learning sessions with four residence periods (RPs): three nine-day sessions on the University of Tennessee campus and one healthcare policy immersion trip to Washington, D.C.
Residence Periods
During the residence periods, participants take classes, meet with faculty advisors and leadership development coaches, and work on project teams with peers. One of the residence periods is a healthcare policy immersion seminar in Washington, D.C.
