Charles H. Noble is the Henry Professor of Business and interim associate dean of research and faculty at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business.
He holds a Ph.D. in marketing from Arizona State University, an MBA in international marketing from Babson College and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Boston College.
Noble serves as chair of the Product Development and Management Association, is a Research Council member at the University of Tennessee’s Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and is a research faculty member at the Center for Services Leadership of Arizona State University.
His research interests focus on innovation, design and product development processes, as applied to both products and services.
He has published in many leading journals including the Journal of Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Sloan Management Review, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and many others.
In his corporate life, Noble worked in strategic planning and corporate finance for leading retailers in the consumer electronics, home improvement and warehouse club sectors. He has consulted for many organizations, primarily in the airline, retailing, restaurant, consumer packaged goods and commercial real estate industries.
Bruce K. Behn, PhD, CPA is the associate dean for graduate and executive education and Deloitte LLP Professor and CBER Faculty Fellow at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business. He joined the Department of Accounting and Information Management in 1994 after completing his doctorate at Arizona State University and has served in a number of capacities over the years within the department (including department head) and the college.
Behn has an MBA from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to obtaining his PhD, he worked for Rockwell International in the Netherlands, as the international financial coordinator for Allen-Bradley Europa B.V.; for Allen-Bradley Company as controller and financial analyst; and for KPMG Peat Marwick as senior auditor.
He has published articles in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance and a number of other journals; he also has served as the co-editor for the Journal of International Accounting Research and the associate editor of Issues in Accounting Education.
Behn recently chaired the Pathways Commission, a joint effort between the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to find ways to strengthen accounting higher education. He is a past vice-president of the AAA, a past president of the AAA’s International Accounting Section and the Federation of Schools of Accountancy (FSA), and past chair of the AICPA’s Pre-certification Education Executive Committee. He has been the recipient of many teaching awards, including the AAA's Innovation in Accounting Education award, UT’s Alumni Outstanding Teaching award, and the Tennessee Society of CPAs Outstanding Educator of the Year.
Stephen L. Mangum is the Dean of the Haslam College of Business and the Stokely Foundation Leadership Chair at the University of Tennessee. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in human resource management from the University of Utah. He earned a doctorate in economics from George Washington University.
Prior to joining the University of Tennessee, Dr. Mangum was senior associate dean of the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. He joined the faculty of Ohio State in 1983 and taught in the Department of Management and Human Resources for several years before managing the department. Before joining Ohio State he taught and conducted research at George Washington University.
Dr. Mangum's areas of research expertise include labor market analysis, social legislation, workforce development, and international economic/ human resource development. His research addresses issues of national training policy, returns to post-school occupational training, international human resource development, contingent employment and poverty. He has published five books and more than 50 book chapters and articles in academic journals including the Industrial and Labor Relations Review, the Journal of Development Economics, Economic Development Quarterly and the Journal of Business Ethics. He has taught classes in Labor Economics, Human Resource Policy, Human Resource Planning, and Organizational Economics, among others.
Michael Lane Morris is the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Student Affairs and the Ergen Professor in Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business. Prior to his current position, he served as the Director of the Global Leadership Scholars (GLS) undergraduate program in the Haslam College of Business. He has also served as a department head and former director of the Human Resource Management M.S. degree program at Haslam. Morris' corporate experience includes working as a metallurgical research and development special projects engineer for Teledyne Firth Sterling.
Morris is also a Core Faculty member and Executive Leadership Development Coach for the Executive MBA programs in The Haslam College of Business. He is a past president of the Academy of Human Resource Development -- the preeminent research organization dedicated to promoting individual and organizational performance, learning, change, and development. Morris' research interests include: strategic human resources, leadership development, executive coaching, work/life balance, assessment of performance-based intervention programs, and stress/health/wellness. His interdisciplinary work has appeared in top-tier journals such as Organizational Research Methods, Human Resource Development Quarterly, Family Relations, and others. Morris serves on numerous editorial boards like the Academy of Management Learning & Education, Family Relations, and Human Resource Development Quarterly.
He earned his Ph.D. from The University of Tennessee. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biology from Lee University as well as a Master of Divinity degree with coursework emphasis in leadership formation/development and counseling from the School of Theology.
Betsy Adams is the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration for the Haslam College of Business, providing strategies for resource planning and allocation across all academic programs, departments, centers and executive education operations. In her position, she has direct responsibility for the Financial Information Office (FIO), Technology Integration Services (TIS) and facilities staff.
Prior to her current position, Adams was assistant provost of systems and resources for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, leading campus-wide conversations about enrollment management and working with administrators and academics to build systems that support degree management. She has been with UT since 2007, when she left St. Clair County Community College in Michigan to become a director of academic resources.
Adams earned her MBA from the Haslam College of Business in 2010, and has more than 20 years of experience in financial management for institutions of higher education.
